"When people of
great wisdom hear the Truth, they diligently practice it;
When people of moderate wisdom hear the Truth, they practice it now and
then;
When people of lesser wisdom hear the Truth, they laugh at it;
If there were no laughter, there would be no Truth."

Within the vast universe of kung fu in China and elsewhere, Yi Chuan
is a solid, down to earth, yet not flashy, style attracting martial arts enthusiasts
throughout the world. Usually, when people think about the Chinese martial arts, they
think of Shaolin or Mo Dong and of internal and external styles. But, Yi Chuan is
none of these. While derived mainly from Hsing Yi Chuan, it has absorbed the essence of other
styles of kung fu, drawing on their respective good points and methods. Unlike other
styles though, Yi Chuan has no fixed forms or fixed techniques, and is, to our knowledge,
the only kung fu like this.
Yi Chuan is outstanding, in and of itself, as martial arts theory. At the same time,
it is highly valued for the physical and mental health benefits which result from its chi
cultivation practices. Currently, Yi Chuan is widely practiced in China where documented
research has credited it with improving physical health and enhancing mental faculties.
